The petition is filed seeking direction to respondent No.1 to renew the Arms License as per the petitioner's renewal application dated 12th June, 2015.

Mr. Sonavane, learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that though the petitioner preferred an application for renewal of his license as long back on 12th June, 2015, so far the decision has not been taken. He submitted that the direction may be given to respondent No.1 to dispose of his application for renewal of the Arms License as expeditiously as possible. Shubhada S Kadam 1/2

Mrs. Deshmukh, learned APP, having taken instructions from the officer concerned, makes a statement that a notice under Section 17 of the Arms Act, 1959 has been issued on 29th October, 2015 to the petitioner to show cause why the Arms License granted to him should not be cancelled. In support of the statement, she has produced the original show cause notice for perusal of this Court. The Officer concerned who is present before the Court is directed to handover the copy of the said show cause notice to the petitioner's counsel.

In the above circumstances, the petition is disposed of by passing the following order :

1.

The petitioner, is at liberty, to reply to the aforesaid show cause notice within the period as stipulated in the show cause notice.

2.

Respondent No.1 shall consider the same and pass an appropriate order in accordance with law expeditiously and preferably within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of the petitioner's reply.

3.

Respondent No.1 shall dispose of the petitioner's application for renewal of Arms License within a period of four weeks thereafter.
