By the present civil application the applicants are seeking condonation of delay of 87 days in filing the first appeal. In the first appeal the Judgment and award passed by learned Member, MACT, Mumbai is challenged. The applicants have claimed Rs.30 lakhs as compensation. However, the MACT, Mumbai has granted compensation of Rs.6,55,500/- and therefore, the appeal is for enhancement of the compensation. The reason given in the civil application is that the applicants are from lower strata of society and therefore, time was required for arranging for court fees and for payment of other expenses. SufÏcient reasons are set out in the civil application.
