By this public interest litigation under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, the petitioner is seeking a writ of mandamus against the respondents directing the respondents to include the self defense training in the curriculum of health and physical education in schools. The second prayer is for issuing a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to issue directives to all the schools for implementation of the health and physical education syllabus and for including self defense

Firstly, as far as the issue of inclusion of a particular topic in syllabus is concerned, it is a matter of a policy decision to be taken by the experts in the field. Secondly, before approaching this Court for seeking a writ of mandamus, the petitioner has not approached by way of representation the concerned authorities empowered to take the decision. 3.

Therefore, we decline to entertain this PIL at this stage. However, we grant liberty to the petitioner to make an appropriate representation to the concerned authorities. If such representation is made, the concerned authorities of the respondents shall decide the same as early as possible. Subject to what is observed above, the petition is disposed of.
