DATE : 20 JANUARY 2020 P.C.:- By this Petition, though the Petitioner is seeking an innocuous direction to the Respondent - Corporation to decide the Petitioner's "recent application" dated 20 August 2018, we are not inclined to issue such direction in the facts of the present case. 2.
The Petitioner seeks an appointment on the compassionate basis in the services of the Respondent - Corporation on the ground that the Petitioner's father-in-law had retired on 19 August 1983 and the Petitioner ought to have appointed in his place. It is stated in the Petition itself that the Representations were made in October 1983 and October 1985. 1/2
45. wp 9215-19.doc Thereafter the gap of 12 years, another Representation is made in the year 1997 and 1999 and then in the year 2018. There is a gross delay, which runs counter to the concept of compassionate appointment which is meant to assist a family of the employee to tide over a sudden calamity. The Petitioner's attempt is to get over these gross latches and to revive a stale cause. The Petition is rejected.
