1] Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned AGP for the respondents - State.

2] The petitioner, who was serving in police department, has fled appeal before the respondent No.1 against an order dated 7.4.2016, by which he has been dismissed from service. The only prayer in the present petition is to direct the respondent No.1 to decide the said Appeal No. 4550 of 2016, which is pending since last more than fve years. 3] The learned AGP appearing for the respondents - State was asked to take instructions as to whether the appeal is still pending with appellate authority, i.e., respondent No.1. After taking instructions, it is informed to us that the appeal is still pending.

3-cwp-13393-16.doc 4] Considering the facts and circumstances, we deem it appropriate to direct the respondent No.1 - Director General of Police to decide the appeal fled by the petitioner. In the result, the following order is passed.

a] The respondent No.1 - Director General of Police shall decide the petitioner's appeal i.e. Appeal No.4550 of 2016, as expeditiously as possible and not later than 8 weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order; b] With aforesaid direction, Writ Petition stands disposed of.

c] All concerned to act on the basis of authenticated copy of this order.
