The only relief sought in the above Writ Petition is a direction to the Scheduled Tribe Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committee, Konkan Division, Thane to decide the tribe claim of the Petitioner expeditiously. The said relief is sought on the ground that the Petitioner's name appears in the select list for the post of Inspector of Police. However, appointment order has not been issued in view of the fact that the Petitioner has failed to produce the validity certificate as belonging to Thakur Scheduled Tribe. It is required to be noted that the Petitioner joined the police force as a constable in the year 1989 and has risen from the ranks and as indicated above his name is presently appearing in the select list for the post of Inspector lgc

We therefore deem it appropriate to direct the Scheduled Tribe Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committee, Konkan Division, Thane to hear and decide the tribe claim of the Petitioner latest by 31/12/2018. The Petitioner to appear before the Scheduled Tribe Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committee, Konkan Division, Thane on 23/10/2018, and thereafter the Scheduled Tribe Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committee, Konkan Division, Thane to decide the tribe claim of the Petitioner within the time stipulated by the instant order.
