Matter could have been disposed of in the light of orders passed today in Writ Petition No.5522/2019. Here the prisoner was required to be arrested and brought back after 1782 days. However, his name has not been restored back to remission Register. 2.

Learned APP submits that as per the policy the restoration can be ordered after expiry of period of 9 years from the date of return. Here the prisoner proceeded on leave on 4/7/1998 and was brought back to jail after arrest on 21/7/2003.

In this situation, without observing anything more we direct respondents to verify the facts and to initiate necessary steps to restore the name of the petitioner on remission register within 3 months from today. 4.
