The appellant has preferred this appeal being aggrieved by judgment and order dated 22.9.2016 in Special Case (POCSO) No.8 of 2014 (Old Special Case (POCSO) No.56 of 2013 - The State of Maharashtra vs. Khalaksinh Janaksinh Panchal]. In the said case, the learned Special Judge, Khed, Rajgurunagar, District Pune, convicted the appellant under sections 302 and 377 of the Indian Penal Code and under sections 6 and 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

The Office has brought to our notice a letter dated 25.11.2016 of the learned Special Judge, Khed, Rajgurunagar, District Pune, which is addressed to this Court. In the said letter, it is stated that the appellant Khalaksinh Janaksinh Panchal has hanged himself in the prison in the evening of 17.11.2016. The Chief Medical Officer declared him as dead at about 8.15pm.

In view of this fact, the appeal abates and is disposed of accordingly.
