This petition was listed for hearing on 16.12.2019, when this Court (Coram: B. P. Dharmadhikari and Nitin R. Borkar, JJ) passed the following order in Criminal Application No.2400 of 2018:- "Life convict when released from the prison is alleged to have indulged in three offences. Prayer of the prisoner is to complete the investigation into these three offences at the earliest so that his leave benefits can be restored.

Learned APP has pointed out that in one matter under section 379 IPC, chargesheet has been filed. In other two cases, custody of the prisoner is required by the Investigating Officer as the motor cycle and some other articles are yet to be recovered. He submits that the necessary permission has been sought from the Government and it is still pending. 3.

In this situation, without observing anything more on the merits and the controversy, since the petition itself is pending before this Court from the year 2016, we direct the State Government to take necessary decision within four months from today. Contingent upon it, the IO shall complete the investigation in the present charge-sheet within next two months.

With these observations, we dispose of Criminal Application."

The main prayer in the petition is for bail. In our opinion, the writ petition is not the remedy to release the petitioner on bail. The petitioner's grievance for expeditious investigation has been considered and certain directions are given by this Court by the above quoted order. If the grievance of the petitioner still subsists, he may approach the appropriate authority / forum for redressal of his grievance. 3.
