Having heard Mr. Hidayatullah, learned senior counsel appearing for the applicants and perusing the application with all annexures thereto, we are of the view that in an old writ petition of 1991, the petitioners deserve an opportunity to be heard on merits, particularly after the writ petition is admitted and pending in this court for long time. There is sufficient cause for the non-appearance on the relevant date. Hence, the order dismissing the writ petition for want of prosecution is recalled. The writ petition is restored to file. The interim order to continue. List the petition on 6th January, 2017.
