P.C. :- On 2 January 2020 after hearing the parties following order was passed :- "Heard learned Counsel for the parties. It appears from the record that no decision has been taken as on date as to whether the Petitioner is entitled to Export Obligation Discharge Certificate or Redemption Certificate of Advance Authorization.

The learned Counsel for the Respondents seeks time to ascertain within how much time a decision would be taken. For this purpose, stand over to 9

The learned Counsel for the Respondents state that Respondent Nos. 3 and 4 have forwarded a communication to Respondent No.2 - the Director General of Foreign Trade wherein they have requested to expedite the decision in the case. The learned Counsel for the Respondents states that there has been no further development after this communication.

In view of this position and the fact that ultimately a decision will have to be taken and such decision cannot be deferred indefinitely, we are of the opinion that it is necessary to stipulate a time limit.

Accordingly, the Director General of Foreign Trade will respond to the communication and send the same to the Respondent Nos. 3 and 4 within a period of eight weeks from today and thereafter, the Respondent Nos.3 and 4, as soon as the said communication is received, communicate further decision to the Petitioner accordingly within a period of four weeks. 5.

Writ Petition is accordingly disposed of.
