Heard the learned APP for the applicant and the learned counsel appointed as Amicus Curiae. In terms of the final directions issued in the criminal PIL, the State Government appointed a Committee headed by Hon'ble Shri Justice Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, a retired Judge of this Court. The interim report dated 28th November 2011 submitted by the Committee is tendered by the learned APP. The same is taken on record and marked `X' for identification.

We have carefully perused the said report. We find that the Committee has done a commendable work from 10th July 2017. The Committee has also set out the road map incorporating 12 issues which the Committee proposes to deal with. The work done by the Committee deserves to be appreciated. Considering the extent of work carried out by the

appi22 Committee and the issues which the Committee proposes to address, the prayer made for grant of extension to submit the report deserves to be acceded to. Accordingly, for the time being, we extend the time granted to the Committee to submit report till 30th June 2018. If the Committee is of the view that certain steps are required to be taken immediately, the Committee is free to submit an interim report in that behalf to the State Government with a copy to the Registrar (Judicial-I) of this Court. The Registrar (Judicial-I) on receipt of any such report shall place the PIL for issuing appropriate directions.

With the above directions, the criminal application is disposed of.

A copy of this order shall be provided to the learned Chairperson of the Committee by the office of the Public Prosecutor.
