Heard learned counsel for the applicant.

This is an application for pre-arrest bail in respect of the offence punishable under Sections 65(a) and (e), 83 and 98 of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, 1949 in connection with C.R. No.304 of 2022 dated 11/11/2022 registered with Palghar Flying Squad.

It is alleged that the applicant was transporting liquor illegally in a jeep. When the Flying Squad called upon the applicant to stop the jeep, the applicant and another person speeded the jeep. When the squad forced the jeep to stop,

903.ABA.3655-22.doc the applicant succeeded in running away. There was a motorcycle following the jeep and one of the accused persons escaped on the motorcycle. In the jeep, the Aadhar Card, driving licence and passbook of the applicant was found. It is alleged that the value of the illegal liquor was to the extent of Rs.12,16,000/-. There are similar cases registered against the applicant in the past. 4.

Considering the nature of the allegations and the serious loss resulting to the revenue, this is not a fit case to grant pre-arrest bail to the applicant as a detailed investigation is necessary.
