It is informed that the Redressal Grievance Committee contemplated under Section 35, sub-section 1-A of the Maharashtra Slum Areas (Improvement, Clearance and Redevelopment) Act, 1971 has been constituted. In view of the availability of the alternate remedy for the redressal of the grievance of the petitioners, the instant Petitions need not be entertained. It would be open for the petitioners to avail of the remedy of raising grievance before the Redressal Grievance Committee. If the petitioners tender appropriate appeals / applications before the Grievance Committee within a period of 4 weeks from today, the concerned Committee shall consider the grievance and pass 1/2
WP1901_14.doc appropriate orders within a period of 6 months from the date of receipt of the grievance applications.

We have issued the aforesaid directions for expeditious disposal of the claim considering the fact that the instant Petitions presented in the year 2014 remained pending for consideration for about 4 years. The time spent in prosecuting the remedy of Writ Petitions shall be considered while dealing with the question of delay in approach to the Committee appropriately and shall be excluded. Writ Petitions are disposed of accordingly.
