The petition is under Section 29-A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996. The Petitioner and the Respondent entered into an Agreement for the supply of diamonds. Disputes arose between the parties on account of alleged non-payment by the Respondent. In a winding up petition filed by the petitioner, this court referred the matter to arbitration by order dated 10th July 2018. Mr Rakesh Reddy, learned advocate of this court, was appointed as the sole arbitrator. The learned Arbitrator entered upon the reference to his arbitration on 20th July 2018. 24th January 2020

Before the arbitrator, the matter proceeded. After the original arbitral mandate ended the parties agreed to an initial extension of six months. The extended mandate ended on 18th January 2020. 3.
The arbitral proceedings have reached the stage of cross examination of the Respondent's witnesses.

Having regard to these circumstances, I am extending the arbitral mandate till 30th August 2020 to complete the arbitral proceedings.

The petition is disposed of accordingly.
