The parties were referred to the sole arbitration of Mr Mehernosh Humranwala, learned Advocate of this Court by an order dated 8th December 2016 in Commercial Arbitration Petition No.2 69 of 2016. The first meeting was held on 18th December 2016. That was the date that he entered upon the reference to his arbitration. The parties consent to an initial extension of six months. The arbitral mandate thus ended on 18th June 2018. By that time, pleadings had been completed, draft issues were settled, discovery 18th November 2019

26-CARBP604-19.DOC and inspection was in progress and documents were to be taken up for being marked.

The petitioner proposes to lead the evidence of two witnesses (as currently advised) and the respondent proposes to lead the evidence of one witness.

I am satisfied that there is no delay attributable to either one side or the other as also to the learned sole arbitrator. Evidence is likely to take some time.

Hence, I extend time for completion of the arbitration by a period of one year from today.

The petition is disposed of accordingly. There will be no order as to costs.
