.... Respondents Mr. Anwar Landge i/by Ms Swati Sawant for the Petitioner.

Ms Manisha Jagtap for the Respondents.

CORAM: S.C. DHARMADHIKARI & DR. SHALINI PHANSALKAR-JOSHI, JJ.

DATE : JULY 21, 2016 P.C:

1.

After the petition was placed before us on the earlier occasion and we requested Ms Jagtap to take instructions, particularly from the Passport Officer as to why a simple and innocuous request of change in the name of the child upon divorce of the parents and consequent adoption in the new family has not been granted by the Passport Officer. Today the matter was placed at the request of Ms Jagtap and to enable her

suresh 918-WPL-1278.2016.doc to take instructions. She informs us that she has received a communication in writing from the Assistant Passport Officer that the request of the petitioner has been granted. 2.

Ms Jagtap states that there is no internal circular and which is relied upon in such cases. It is assured that the Assistant Passport Officer hereafter will simplify the procedure and not force parties like the petitioner to approach this Court. 3.

The writ petition is disposed of.
