The Petition is by the liquidator of the original Petitioner. The liquidator was appointed by the NCLT Chennai. The parties had a contract dated 9th February 2015. This related to another contract awarded by the 2nd Respondent to the 1st Respondent for the deepening of certain offshore basins.

Disputes arose between the present parties. The Petitioner filed an Arbitration Petition in which, on 28th April 2016, this Court appointed Mr Minoo Siodia as the sole arbitrator. The matter then proceeded before him. Some time was lost in arbitration. In the meantime the Petitioner was taken into liquidation. Before the 13th January 2020

20-CARBP903-19.DOC learned sole arbitrator the matter is at the stage of evidence. The cross-examination of the Petitioner's evidence is complete and the cross-examination of the Respondent's witness is to begin. Documents have also to be marked. Parties have agreed to an initial extension of six months. The arbitral mandate was extended for a further period of six months from 19th November 2018. In the meantime, there were certain challenges to the insolvency proceedings.

Having regard to these circumstances, I will extend the arbitral mandate until 22nd December 2020.
