The Indian Adoption Petition proposes the adoption of a female minor, Antara, born on 7th December 2017. Her biological mother surrendered her to the Child Welfare Committee, Suburban District on 18th December 2017. She was given in custody to the Petitioner institution that very day.

The Child Welfare Committee has declared Antara legally free for adoption after following necessary procedures.

The adoptive parents reside in New Delhi. They are 45 and 43 years old respectively. They have been married for the last 9 years but have no children of their own.

The necessary documents are on file including the motivation letter, the Adoption Committee decision, the Affidavit of the Chief Functionary of the Specialized Adoption Agency, proof of residence, financial documents and the self assessment home study report as also all undertakings.

The health reports of the parents and of the minor are positive. The HIV reports are all negative.

The father works in a private company as a Deputy General Manager with a monthly gross salary of over Rs 85,000/-. The mother works as a computer operator in the private sector. She has, however, resigned her job to take care of the minor. The assessment report of the Social Worker recommends the adoption. The child security undertaking is from the cousin and sister-in-law of the adoptive parents.

I have seen the scrutiny report presented by Mr O Hareendran, Scrutiny Officer of the Indian Council of Social Welfare which is on record.

Having regard to these circumstances, I will allow the Petition. The Judge's Order is separately signed.

The Registry will get the Petition with all its annexures and all orders, including the signed Judge's Order, scanned. These digital copies are to be preserved. A soft copy may be given to the Advocate for the Petitioner free of cost on a pen drive provided by the Advocate for the Petitioner for the same. The Registry will ensure that the scan of the Judge's Order is a properly calibrated colour scan.
