The petition has been filed under Section 29A of the Arbitration Act for an extension of the arbitral mandate. Shephali Mormare 3.

Disputes between the parties arose under a Lease Agreement dated 25th March 2003. Arbitral proceedings commenced on 28th by Shephali Mormare Date: 2021.01.07 10:46:27 +0530 April 2012 and an award was passed on 15th April 2014. 6th January 2021

The Respondent filed a petition challenging the Arbitration Award. By order dated 6th February 2019, this Court set aside the award and appointed learned Sole Arbitrator, Mr. Jehangir Jeejeebhoy.

The mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal was extended twice - on 29th August 2019 by six months, and then on 17th February 2020 by a further six months. However, due to the lockdown and the pandemic restrictions, the parties have been unable to conclude the proceedings.

At present, the arbitration is at the stage of final arguments. Considering the circumstances, I extend the arbitral mandate until 30th June 2021.
