This is a domestic or Indian Adoption Petition in respect of a female minor, Zelia, born on 27th July 1998. She was first placed with the Missionaries of Charity, which then proposed guardianship of the minor in favour of the present Petitioner Mr. Cyril Michael D'Souza, aged 54 years and Mr. Monica D'Souza aged 50 years.
The Guardianship Petition was allowed on 27th January 1999. 1 This Petition is filed in pursuance of the guidelines set out by F.I. Rebello, J (as he then was) in his detailed and elaborate Judgment dated 27th October 2009 in Manuel Theodore D'Souza and Mrs. Lourdes D'Souza.

The Petitioners are both Christians. They lived in Virar West. They have been married for 25 years. They have no children of their own. The health reports of the Petitioners and Zelia all are positive. The 1st Petitioner father works as an Operations Executive with Master Marine Services Private Limited at Nhava Sheva, JNPT and his monthly gross salary is Rs.25,700/-. The mother works as a teacher with Pre School named Little Captains. Her monthly salary is Rs.13,100/-. The financial documents, proof of residence and property are on record.

In pursuance of the order of 27th January 1999, the Petitioners have deposited Rs.50,000/- in the name of Zelia in UTI's scheme of C.C.C.F. Unit Plan 1993. The necessary documents are on record.

I have also before me the adoption home study report prepared on 28th March 2016. This is entirely positive. 5.
Zelia and her guardians, and soon-to-be parents, are all before me today. Zelia is evidently well-adjusted and closed to her parents. She has many cousins from her adoptive father's side. She is close R.J. Kochar J., paperbook, pp. 10-12.

to all of them. She speaks several languages. Presently Zelia is in Viva College in Virar. She has completed her 12th Standard (H.S.C.) and tells me that she intends to pursue her educational career in banking.

I have no hesitation in allowing the Petition. 7.
