The petition is under Section 29-A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996. The parties entered into a Contract for Rehabilitation and Upgradation of NH222 from end of Malshej Ghat to the start of Ane Ghat dated 28th January 2014. Disputes arose between the parties. The Petitioner No.1 invoked arbitration under clauses 26.2 & 26.3 of the Contract on 28th November 2017 and nominated Shri SB Tamsekar as its Arbitrator. Petitioner No. 2, vide letter dated 30th May 2018, nominated Shri SR Tambe. The two arbitrators nominated Shri DA Limaye as the presiding arbitrator. The arbitral tribunal was thus constituted on 25th June 2018. The Tribunal entered upon the reference to the arbitration shortly thereafter.

Before the arbitrators, the matter proceeded. The original arbitral mandate ended on 25th June 2019. The parties agreed to an initial extension of six months. The extended mandate ended on 25th December 2019.

The arbitral proceedings have reached the stage of final arguments.

Having regard to these circumstances, I am extending the arbitral mandate till 30th August 2020 to complete the arbitral proceedings.

The petition is disposed of accordingly.
