Heard learned Counsel for the petitioner. Respondent is served, however, none appears for the respondent.

This is a petition filed under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act whereby the petitioner is praying for extension of the mandate of the arbitral tribunal to complete the arbitral proceedings. By order dated 6 December 2018/14 December 2018 the learned Sole Arbitrator came to be appointed to adjudicate the disputes between the parties. By an order dated 14 December 2018 time to complete the arbitral proceedings was extended for a period of one year from 6 December 2018. Learned Counsel for the petitioner informs that the stage of the arbitral proceedings is that the claimants documents are to be marked in evidence. The petition is already served on the respondents. Respondent has not filed any opposition to this petition.

In the above circumstances, it is in the interest of justice that the mandate of the arbitral tribunal is extended for a period of six months from today. The Arbitral Tribunal shall make an endeavour to conclude the arbitral proceedings and publish an award within the extended period so that there is

pvr 16arbp1601-19 no need to the parties to apply for a further extension. All contentions of the parties on merits of the dispute are expressly kept open. 4.

Disposed of in the above terms.
