The petitioners' land was acquired by direct purchase. A registered sale deed has been executed. They are now claiming interest under Section 80 of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 (the Act). 3.

The learned advocate for the petitioners on instructions submits that the petitioners would be contended if a direction is given to the Collector to take some decision on their application dated 15.07.2022. 4.

Without expressing anything on merits regarding entitlement of the petitioners to seek any benefit under Section 80 of the Act, we dispose of the writ petition by directing the respondent - Collector to take appropriate decision as expeditiously as possible and in any case within twelve weeks.
