On 03rd September, 2019, we had asked the learned Assistant Government Pleader to take instructions about the status of the application of the petitioner with the Hon'ble Chancellor. The learned A. G. P. submits that, instructions are not yet received.

Under Section 140 of the Maharashtra Public Universities Act, 2016, Hon'ble Chancellor has to decide about the eligibility of the persons to be elected. The petitioner has already availed the said remedy before the Hon'ble Chancellor by filing application on 22.05.2008 (Exhibit - J/page 47).

In case said application is pending with the Hon'ble Chancellor, then we request the Hon'ble Chancellor to decide the same on its own merits, in accordance with law and expeditiously.

The learned counsel for the university and the learned Assistant Government Pleader shall communicate this order to the office of the Hon'ble Chancellor.

In view of the above, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
