This Petition pertains to our order dated 21.09.2022, passed in Contempt Petition No. 494 of 2022. The award was to be delivered by 31st May, 2023 and the compensation was to be paid on or before 31st October, 2023. The award has been delivered on 12.12.2023, which is after six months of the deadline.

In so far as the compensation is concerned, an amount of Rs.1,10,00,000/-was paid on 29th April, 2024. An amount of Rs.1,16,17,405/- is yet to be paid. The learned AGP submits that this amount would be paid to the beneficiaries within 30 days from today. He placed on record a compilation of documents (9 pages), which are collectively marked as 'X' for identification. Statement towards payment of residual amount is made in the communication dated 29.03.2024 (page 8 & 9 of the compilation).

The learned Advocate for the Petitioner submits that this matter may be disposed off by recording the statement of the respondents.

In view of the above, this Contempt Petition is disposed off on instructions of the Petitioner.

It be noted that since this is a second contempt and the disobedience being very obvious, if there is any further disobedience, the conduct of the purported contemner would treated as an aggravated contempt.
