Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the post of Sarpanch of Grampanchayat Vadjai is reserved from General (women). The petitioner is elected as a Member of the said Grampanchayat from S.C. category. The population of the village of the said Grampanchayat is 7,000 and the S.C. population only 500. 2.

The petitioner is not in a position to place on record the data of the population of other villages where the post of Sarpanch is reserved for S.C. category in Taluka Dhule. The reservation has to be made in a descending order commensurate with the population of S.C. category.
