This matter was on board on 31.03.2022 when the learned Government Pleader took time to take instructions from the concerned department and to make a statement as to when the election process of Dhule District Planning Committee, Dhule in accordance with the provisions of the Maharashtra District Planning Committee (Constitution of Functions) Act, 1988 will be held at the earliest.

The learned Government Pleader tenders a copy of the letter dated 04.04.2022 from the District Planning Committee to the learned Government Pleader informing that the matter is pending before the Law and Judiciary Department for opinion and any decision in that regard would take about two months. We direct the Dhule District Planning Committee to expedite the procedure of obtaining the opinion and to take a final decision by holding such election and to commence the election process of District Planning Committee, Dhule. The entire process for commencement of election shall be completed within a period of eight weeks from today.

Writ petition is disposed off accordingly. No order as to costs.

In case, the Dhule District Planning Committee does not take steps to commence election process within eight weeks from today, the petitioners would be at liberty to file appropriate proceedings.
