Upon instructions from the Investigating Officer, the learned A.P.P. made a statement before us on 27th March 2025 that the chargesheet would be filed on or before 15th April 2025, but the learned A.P.P. submits that the Investigating Officer, who is present before the Court, seeks more time as the chargesheet which he had submitted for approval to the higher authorities has been received for correction. After correction, he would file the said chargesheet and for that purpose the Investigating Officer wants time of atleast one month.

We deprecate such practice. When the instructions were sought then the Investigating Officer ought to have considered all the aspects involved before putting the deadline for himself. The other details are not made available for us as to when the chargesheet is sent back for correction to him. Yet, now we extend the time by two weeks only and if the Investigating Officer fails to file the chargesheet within the said deadline, he would be liable to action including action for contempt of Court.
