The petitioners are the persons who are before the appellate authority in a statutory appeal preferred by them under Section 18(4) of the Maharashtra Money-Lending (Regulation) Act, 2014. These are the group of petitions wherein the petitioners are before the appellate authority. In some of these matters, since the order under challenge was put to execution, the petitioners had approached this Court and by the order dated 31.01.2023 we had directed the appellate authority to take decision on the applications for stay and till then we had directed the status quo to be maintained. 3.
Admittedly, pursuant to our order the appellate authority heard the respective parties on 06.02.2023 and had reserved the matters for passing orders on the stay applications.

These petitions were filed apprehending that adverse orders would be passed on the applications for stay, seeking a breathing time to challenge the orders.

Today the matters are before us on the premise that the appellate authority has passed orders rejecting the applications for stay yesterday. 6.
Admittedly, the substantive appeals have been listed for final hearing before the appellate authority on 27.02.2023. Obviously, the petitioners will have to if at all they so intend challenge the order rejecting their applications for stay. However, considering the fact that even according to 3/4
the learned advocate for the contesting respondents the possession is being taken at the site, just to enable the petitioners to have some breathing time, we dispose of the writ petitions by directing the parties to maintain status quo as is obtaining today in respect of the possession till 23.02.2023. 7.
The learned advocates shall inform their respective clients regarding passing of this order immediately.
