The grievance of the petitioners is that the rental compensation is not paid to the petitioners. The application ought to have been filed with the Special Land Acquisition Officer / competent authority.

The petitioners may file an application for rental compensation with the competent authority. In case, such an application is filed by the petitioners before the competent authority seeking

2 wp 7087.19 rental compensation, then the competent authority shall take decision on its own merits, after hearing all parties concerned, expeditiously and preferably within a period of nine (09) months from the date of filing of the application.

The writ petition is accordingly disposed of. No costs.
