Petitioner's father, working as Kotwal died in harness on 3.7.2004.

On the death of his father, the petitioner made a representation in which he drew attention of the authorities to his father having died while in service on 3.7.2004. The petitioner prayed that he be given employment on compassionate basis. There was no

response to the representations. The petitioner continued to make representations.

On 7.1.2015, advertisement was issued inviting applications to fill up vacancies of Kotwal in Ahmedpur Taluka. The petitioner applied. He took the written examination but he was unsuccessful. At that stage the petitioner filed Original Application No.255/2015 which has been dismissed by the Tribunal on the reason that the same was filed 10 years 8 months and 23 days after petitioner's father died. 4.

Appointment on compassionate basis is granted to give relief to the family of the deceased employee which come under sudden financial stress on account of the untimely demise of the employee. 5.

If the family can sustain itself for 11 years without any financial assistance, that itself destroys the claim filed belatedly seeking appointment on compassionate basis.

Thus, the petition is dismissed.
