Without there being any compliance of Section 154(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the petitions have been filed seeking a writ of mandamus directing the concerned police to register the crime. 2.

What transpires is, apparently a complaint has been sent jointly to the Superintendent of Police and the concerned Police Inspector, which is ex facie not a compliance of Section 154(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure. 3.

The Criminal Writ Petitions are dismissed.

It would be always open to the petitioners to resort to appropriate remedies like filing a private complaint under Section 200 of the Code of Criminal Procedure or soliciting a direction under Section 156(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
