Petitioners contend that the agricultural land belonging to them has been taken in possession by respondents in the year 2007 for construction of percolation tank without observing the procedure prescribed under the Land Acquisition Act.

In the facts and circumstances of the case, this petition stands disposed of with directions to respondents to initiate land acquisition proceeding in accordance with the provisions of Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, and pass award determining the amount of compensation receivable by the petitioners, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of one year from today and, it is accordingly directed. Respondents are also further directed to pay the amount of compensation so determined by the
