PER COURT:- 1.

The application filed by the petitioner for correction of his caste in the secondary school record is rejected by the Education Officer on the ground that the petitioner has left the school. 2.

We have heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned A.G.P.

It appears that in the primary school record of the petitioner the caste is mentioned as 'Maratha', however, in the secondary school record, more particularly Leaving Certificate in the column of caste the same is recorded as 'Marathi'. The Marathi is a language. It appears to be a case of obvious mistakes.

It has been held by the Full Bench of this Court in Writ Petition No.8085 of 2017 dated 17.10.2019 that the obvious mistakes can be corrected even after the candidate has left the school.

In light of that, impugned order is quashed and set aside.

The Education Officer shall consider the application of the petitioner on its own merits and shall not reject it on the ground that the petitioner has left the school. The decision shall be taken within a period of three months.

Writ Petition accordingly disposed of. No costs.
