The applicant has been convicted for the offence punishable under Sections 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and sentenced to suffer rigorous imprisonment for three years and pay fine of Rs.10,000/-, in default, to suffer rigorous imprisonment for fifteen days. He also convicted for the offence under Section 13(1)(d)(i) and (ii) punishable under Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and sentenced to suffer
(( 2 )) 15(B)-Appln-1330-2022 rigorous imprisonment for four years and pay fine of Rs.10,000/-, in default, to suffer rigorous imprisonment for fifteen days. The maximum sentence imposed is of four years. The applicant has been behind the bars for little over three weeks. It is a short term sentence. The appeal is not likely to come up for hearing in near future.

In the fitness of things, the execution of substantive sentence of imprisonment to stand suspended pending the appeal. The applicant be released on his executing P. R. bond in the sum of Rs.15,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Thousand) with surety bond in the like amount.
