The petition is filed with a request that, the respondents be directed to initiate acquisition proceedings. It appears that the name of the petitioners were not recorded in the revenue record. The State has filed the affidavit stating that, it has been decided to initiate land acquisition proceedings under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 and the Sub-Divisional Officer has also issued a request letter to the Government Press for Gazette notification.

Considering the above, the grievance of the petitioners stands redressed. The respondents shall take expeditious steps as stated in the affidavit in reply. The acquisition proceedings be initiated expeditiously as suggested in the affidavit, preferably within three (3) months from today.
