CORAM: S.V. GANGAPURWALA & K.L. WADANE, JJ.

DATE: 30.08.2016 ORDER :

1] Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is the widow of Goruba Thorat, who was a freedom fighter and had actively participated in the Hyderabad Liberation Movement as an underground freedom fighter. The husband of the petitioner had filed application with the respondents for grant of freedom fighters pension. The District Gaurav Samiti had recommended the same to the High Power Committee, but

WP 8141/13 - 2 - then nothing was done and eventually the husband of the petitioner died in February, 2004.

2] Learned counsel for the respondent nos.2 & 3 submits that the respondents have taken a policy decision of not sanctioning any pension amount after the death of the person claiming to be the freedom fighter. 3] In view of the fact that the scheme of freedom fighter pension now is not applicable to the widow of the freedom fighter or that pension is not to be paid to the widow of the freedom fighter, the case of the petitioner now cannot be considered. The writ petition as such stands disposed of. No costs.
