The Petitioner is a resident of Torankudi (Charankudi) village, Taluka Sakri, District Dhule. He is aggrieved that the drinking water is not supplied to his house for several years. Earlier there was an administrative sanction dated 18.03.2017 granted by the District Collector/ Member Secretary, District Planning Committee, Dhule and the work order dated 30.12.2017 was issued. However, the contractor did not commence the work and as a consequence, the project of laying pipelines, sinking wells and distributing water, was not

Shri Desale, the learned Advocate for Respondent Nos.4, 5 and 6/Zilla Parishad, submits that as the erstwhile contractor did not commence the work, there was no project work undertaken and, therefore, there was no payment of amount to the said contractor. The funds sanctioned for such project are available for a period of around two years. As the work was not done, the funds lapsed and were returned to the Government. 3.

Shri Desale places before us the communication dated 01.10.2022, which is the work order issued by Respondent Nos.4 and 5 in favour of one Shri Dipak Adhar Chaudhari. The copy of the said order is taken on record and marked as "X" for identification. Shri Desale submits that in view of the work order "X", now the project would be completed preferably within a period of 12 months from the date of the said order. In all probabilities, water would be available to the residents by Diwali, 2023.

In view of the above, the concern voiced by the Petitioner is redressed. We would expect Respondent No.4 (Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, Dhule) and Respondent No.5 (Executive Engineer, Rural Water Supply Department, Zilla

*3* Parishad, Dhule), to keep a constant watch/vigil on the progress of the said project and view the progress of the same every fortnight to ensure that the project is completed within the time prescribed.

With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed off.
