The petitioner is convict undergoing the sentence of life imprisonment in jail. His application for grant of furlough leave was allowed on condition that he should submit a surety. It so happened that no one come forward to stand as surety for his furlough leave. The petitioner stated that he has only one relative, who is his mother and is 70 years old. She is therefore, unable to stand surety for him. In such situation, learned counsel for the petitioner requested us that in our discretion the petitioner should be granted furlough leave on his furnishing cash security of Rs.5000/-.

In view of above, the concerned authorities are directed to release the petitioner on furlough leave on his furnishing cash

Mr. Karnik, learned advocate, was appointed by this Court to represent the cause of the petitioner in the present petition. We direct the Registry to quantify his professional fees as per Rules and pay the same to him.
