The Commandant (Recruitment) in the office of the Director General, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has filed an affidavit in reply dated 12.7.2022 indicating that the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) and the Central Finger Print Bureau (CFPB) are the bodies, which come under the CFSL, who would be conducting certain inquiries/investigations. Based on the reports, SSB would proceed to issue appointment orders.

The learned counsel for the petitioners seeks liberty to add the CFSL as respondent no. 4. Addition be carried out forthwith. Shri Golegaonkar causes an appearance.

The petitioners are before us, seeking a direction that whatever is the procedure that is to be followed, the authorities concerned may complete such exercise within a particular period so that the petitioners would atleast be aware, whether they are

WP 6782/22 being considered for appointment or not. The selection process was completed in the year 2020 when these two petitioners were two years younger. Now petitioner no. 1 is 23 years old and petitioner no. 2 is 25 years old.

In view of the above, this petition is disposed off with the following directions :- (a) Let the CFSL and the CFPB complete the exercise of investigation/verification with regard to these two petitioners and similarly situated candidates, on or before 30th September, 2022 and thereafter, based on the eligibility of the candidates, including these two petitioners, proceed to issue orders of appointment, on or before 21st October, 2022. 5.

We request the learned advocate Mr. Golegaonkar, appearing on behalf of SSB, to place a copy of this order before the CFSL and the CFPB.
