This petition is filed for directions to the police authorities to provide police protection to the petitioners. The contention of the petitioners is that both of them are major. They were in love and they have got married. Though noting is annexed to this petition, a copy of the some marriage certificate is produced on record, which is taken on record and marked as 'X' for identification. It appears that both the petitioners are major and they

952 WP.823.2022 are apprehending some danger at the hands of father of the petitioner No.1. The prayers made in this petition are too vague and so far no application is made before any of the police authorities. Therefore, at this stage, it is difficult to grant any specific relief to them. However, if there is real danger to them, it is also the duty of the police to protect them. Hence, the following order:

O R D E R

I.

The petitioners are at liberty to make an application before the concerned Superintendent of Police to provide for appropriate police protection for appropriate period. If such an application is preferred, it shall be decided taking into account the reasonableness of the apprehension.

II.

The petitioners shall make such application at the earliest.

III.

With these directions, the petition is disposed of. IV.

It is made clear that in the meantime also, if there is any real threat to the petitioners, the police shall take steps to protect the petitioners.
