The petitioner alleged that he was illegally detained by the Police.

He sought action against certain Police Officers and compensation from the State.

Learned A.P.P. brought to our notice amended provisions of the Maharashtra Police Act. We found that Section 22(P) of the Maharashtra Police Act, which is now introduced in the Act, takes care of such complaints against Police.

We hold that the complaint to Authority under Section 22(P) of the Maharashtra Police Act is equally efficacious remedy available to the petitioner.

We are inclined to dispose of this petition with a request to Authority constituted under Section 22(P) of the Maharashtra Police Act to enquire into allegations which are made against Police personnel and take appropriate action.

5.

The petition stands disposed of accordingly.
