The petitioners' claim for compensation was apparently settled in a Lok Adalat. However, in a reference made by some other claimants, they were awarded enhanced compensation. The petitioners addressed letter dated 09-06-2021 to the respondent - Collector albeit it was not styled as an application under section 28-A of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894, but adverting the attention to the increased compensation awarded to the other claimants and claiming the same benefit.

We dispose of the writ petition by directing the respondent - Collector to take appropriate decision on this application dated 09-06-2021 on its own merits.

It is made clear that we have not expressed anything either about the maintainibility of the application or entitlement of the petitioners to have enhanced compensation.
