The petitioner seeks permission to terminate the pregnancy.

The petitioner was referred to the Expert Committee at Government Medical College and Hospital, Aurangabad. The Expert Committee examined the petitioner and submitted the report. The relevant part of the report reads thus:

CBC, Hb :- 9.8 gm%, Urine RM-Normal URINE ROUTINE 02.

USG Single Live Intrauterine pregnancy corresponding to 19 weeks and 4 days with, adequate liquor with posterior placenta with significant shortening of apical and appendicular skeleton, thoracic / abdominal circumference ratio - 0.98, femur: foot length ratio - 0.96 and single umbilical artery possibility of skeletal dysplasia 14.

Additional findings and observations : N.A.

Physical fitness for termination - YES 16.

Recommendations by Medical Board for termination : Recommended.

Recommended Medical termination of pregnancy because continuation carries substantial risk to the fetus. Termination of pregnancy carries due maternal risk. Surgical intervention & blood transfusion may be required. The risk involved it the said procedure is explained to the patient & her husband. Pregnancy can be terminated at any place approved by government and according to wish of the women." 3.

The Expert Committee recommended medical termination of pregnancy. It is opined that, the continuation of pregnancy carries substantial risk to the fetus. The risk involved in

The learned Counsel for the petitioner submits that, the petitioner is apprised of the risk involved in the termination of pregnancy and the petitioner wants to proceed further with the termination of pregnancy.

In light of the above and the report of the Expert Committee, the petitioner is permitted to terminate the pregnancy at any Government recognized Centre.
