The learned Advocate representing the State Election Commission points out an order passed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court on 20.07.2022 in Petition for Special Leave to Appeal (C) No.19756/2021, Rahul Ramesh Wagh Vs. The State of Maharashtra and Ors. and connected matters, wherein the Hon'ble Supreme Court has observed that, "We restate that position and express sanguine hope that the concerned authorities and, in particular, the Election Commission would complete the election process in respect of the remaining local

(2) 1041-wp-7091-2022 bodies in accordance with law in right earnest keeping in mind the spirit of the mandate of the Constitution of India in that regard."

It is submitted by the learned Advocate for petitioners that the issue with regard to the panchayats raised in this petition, are amongst the 367 local bodies with regard to which the election programme has commenced and the Hon'ble Supreme Court has recorded that such elections shall be commenced and completed in due course.

In view of the above, the learned Advocate for petitioners submits on instructions that the petitioners would avail of the remedy as is permissible in law after the elections are concluded.

In view of the above, this petition is disposed of with liberty as is prayed for.
