The proposal submitted for verification of the tribe claim of the petitioner is returned back only on the ground that the term of the petitioner as Member of the Grampanchayat is over.

Even if the term of Member of

2 W.P.No.11601/17 Grampanchayat is over, that would not absolve the Committee from deciding the tribe claim of the petitioner.

Considering above, the impugned order is quashed and set aside. The Committee shall decide the proposal seeking verification of the tribe claim of the petitioner on its own merits in accordance with law expeditiously, preferably within six (6) months.

The Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
