The petitioner has filed the present petition seeking a writ of mandamus permitting him to participate in the election for the post of Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat, Dhamangaon, Tq. Chalisgaon, Dist. Jalgaon.

The election meeting was scheduled to be held on 16.07.2024. The ground of challenge was the petitioner was not served with the agenda of the said meeting. The elections to the Office of Sarpanch cannot be deferred indefinitely. It will be expedient in the interest of all that the petition is disposed of

957 WP NO.7365.2024 -2directing that the election to fill up the post of Sarpanch of concerned Gram Panchayat be held at the earliest, by following the due procedure prescribed under the law. Needless to mention that since the disqualification of the petitioner is set aside, he will be entitled to participate in the election process unless there is other legal impediment.
