1] The petitioner seeks correction of caste in the school record.

2] It is trite that if it is the case of the obvious mistake, then only entry in the school record can be corrected. Reference can be made of the judgment by Full Bench of this Court in the case of Janabai d/o Himmatrao Thakur Vs. State of Maharashtra and others, reported in 2019 [6] Mh.L.J. 769.

3] The petitioner has already given application with the management. The institution shall forward the proposal for change of caste in the school record of the

9122.21WP petitioner to the Education Officer preferably within a period of four weeks from the date of this order. The Education Officer shall consider the said proposal on its own merit and shall consider whether it is the case of the obvious mistake. If the Education Officer is convinced that the case is of the obvious mistake, then only shall entertain the proposal and shall take decision upon it and shall not reject the said proposal only on the ground that the petitioner has left the school.

4] With the above observations, Writ Petition is disposed of.
