The Petitioner is 57 years old and is an Agriculture Officer in the Panchayat Samiti, Chalisgaon. He is due to superannuate at the age of 58 years. He desires that his date of birth, as recorded ever since in school, education and service days, as 01.06.1967, should be altered to 19.08.1968, because Gaon Namuna No.14, pertaining to Birth and Death Register at Mauje Pimpalgaon (Hare), indicates his date of birth as 19.08.1968.

We have perused the Petition paper book with the assistance of the learned advocate. He has made an attempt to get his date of birth changed in the Maharashtra Government Gazette, published in the October 6-12-2022 Edition, in which his new date of

wp10776.24 -2birth is mentioned. It carries the disclaimer clause as "Note.- "Government accepts no responsibility as to the authenticity of the contents of the notice. Since they are based entirely on the application of the concerned persons without verification of documents"."

The law on correction of date of birth is well settled over the last five decades. The date of birth cannot be changed at the fag end of the service career. When the Petitioner is due to superannuate within one year and when his date of birth as 01.06.1967, has been recorded throughout his entire educational days and in his service record, we are not inclined to entertain this Petition. 4.

This Writ Petition is, therefore, dismissed.
